RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE
A music video for Sami Stevens, Right in the Middle is a visual meditation on loneliness, longing, and sudden bursts of power. Shot entirely at night in downtown NYC, the piece captures the emotional push and pull of touring — the desire to be near someone, even as the city spins around you.
We filmed inside Library Bar using Nanlite PavoTubes to shape intimate moments in tight spaces, and leaned into the chaos of mixed lighting on the streets — bodega fluorescents, passing headlights, the unexpected beauty of whatever the city gave us. We wrapped at Pier 16, lit by PavoTubes in front of the old boat, with the skyline and river as our backdrop.
Shot handheld on a cinema camera with anamorphic glass, this one-man crew project tested every limit — but the creative trust between artist and filmmaker made space for something special to emerge.
Creative Direction & Visual Intent
Filmed in the glow of bodegas and borrowed light.
One night. One lens. One very full heart.
Shot handheld, felt deeply.
Lonely never looked so alive.
