THE TOY FOUNDATION

At Montefiore Hospital in the Bronx, play isn’t optional — it’s essential.

This short film follows Jordan, a young transplant patient, and the medical team that uses toys, games, and sensory tools to help children process treatment, stay calm during procedures, and reclaim a sense of normalcy in crisis.

With support from The Toy Foundation, Montefiore built safe, interactive spaces for pediatric patients — especially those with behavioral or developmental challenges.

“Play is the language of children.“

”It helps him stay happy, distracted, and willing to cooperate.”

In a community where resources are scarce, this kind of joy is medicine.

Coney Island Block Party – Power of a Toy

In partnership with Metro World Child, The Toy Foundation brought 250 toys to kids at a Brooklyn block party — turning a summer afternoon into something unforgettable.

For many of these families, toys aren’t in the budget. But for kids, they’re everything. What started as a joyful street event became a powerful gesture of care and recognition.

“Toys are like a way to connect. You get a water gun, they get a water gun — now you’re running around playing together.”

“My kids win something, I’m happy. That’s one less thing to worry about.”

This film captures more than just giveaways — it’s about dignity, community, and what happens when a child walks home with something of their own.
